WARNING FOR THE ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING OF THE ELMORE-MORRISTOWN UNIFIED UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT

TUESDAY, MARCH 3, 2026
The legal voters of the Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District, consisting of the towns of Elmore and Morristown, are hereby notified and warned to meet in the respective polling places hereinafter named for each of the above referenced towns on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, to vote by Australian Ballot.
The Board of School Directors will hold a public informational hearing on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Library at Morristown Elementary School to discuss Articles 4-6.
Polling Places and Times
Elmore: Elmore Town Office, 1175 VT Route 12 – 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Morristown: Municipal Building, 43 Portland Street – 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
ARTICLE 1: To elect a Moderator for one year
ARTICLE 2: To elect the following officers:
- Clerk for one year
- Treasurer for one year
ARTICLE 3: To elect School Directors of the Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District:
- One for a term of three (3) years – Morristown resident
ARTICLE 4: Shall the voters of the Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District authorize the School Directors to apply $725,000 of the school district’s fund balance as revenue for the 2026-2027 school year budget?
ARTICLE 5: Shall the voters of the school district approve the school board to expend $19,316,076, which is the amount the school board has determined to be necessary for the ensuing fiscal year? The Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District estimates that this proposed budget, if approved, will result in per pupil education spending of $12,823, which is 5.29% higher than per pupil education spending for the current year.
ARTICLE 6: Shall the voters of the Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District authorize the School Directors to borrow money to pay current expenses and debts of said District in anticipation of the collection of taxes for such purposes and returns from the State, and, if so, provide that the same be done by notes of the District?
The legal voters of the Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District are further notified that voter qualification, registration, and absentee voting relative to said annual meeting shall be provided in Chapters 43, 51, and 55 of Title 17, Vermont Statutes Annotated
